Best Shopping in Tulsa OK This Holiday Season

It’s TIIIIIIIIIIME (Mariah Carey voice…IYKYK)

A cold winter breeze is in the air, homes and businesses are starting to put their Christmas lights up, and there is a nagging feeling of needing to get everyone you’ve ever met a gift for the holidays. Maybe that last one is just me – gift-giving is my love language after all.

If you are not a creative gifter or just need a concise list of all the great places to shop this holiday season, I’m here to help!

I live in Oklahoma City, but I love going out to Tulsa every once in a while. Mostly for a change of scenery, but Tulsa is also home to several really great local businesses – stores, coffee shops, restaurants – that don’t exist in OKC (yet…I want to sign a petition to get Roosevelt’s to open a location in OKC).

If you live in Tulsa, want to take a quick trip out there for something new, or just want to see some random person’s opinions on the best shopping in Tulsa, keep reading!

Local Businesses in Tulsa, OK

This year (2023) has been ROUGH. Everything is more expensive so people are cutting their frivolous spending and finding ways to save money on necessities.

Finding cheaper options typically means going to large box stores that can afford to keep their prices a bit lower. Small businesses simply can’t compete with Amazon or Walmart’s prices. But I really encourage you to support small businesses this holiday season.

Amazon WILL NOT NOTICE if you spend money with them or not. A small business will see each transaction and it could mean whether or not that business stays open. I have seen so many really great small businesses closing up this year and it’s been hard to watch. Spending money in your local community means the money stays in the community and goes further than the money you spend on Amazon.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Now let’s get into it.

Buck Atom’s

Buck Atom’s is a tiny little store, located on Route 66 (or The Mother Road). They have a ton of really fun gift items that relate to Route 66, Oklahoma, Tulsa, etc. So if you are traveling through and needing some souvenirs, this is your shop. You can’t miss it, as there is a GIGANTIC MAN (Buck Atom, himself) wearing a cowboy hat and a space helmet, so be sure to take a picture with (or of) him to immortalize your visit. Here’s their website for more info.

DECOPOLIS

DECOPOLIS is right down the road from Buck Atom’s. DECOPOLIS is like if Rainforest Cafe, a museum gift shop, and a toy store were put in a blender. Part of this store is a “mini Art Deco Museum”, but most of it is filled with rooms of different themes – think dinosaurs, princesses, and wizards. With toys and books for each theme, it would almost be impossible to NOT find a gift for any little ones you are shopping for. This place really just needs to be seen to be understood. Check out their website.

Ida Red

There is such a great variety at this store, I could go on and on about all the fun things I’ve shopped for there, but I’ll keep it short! This local shop has gifts GALORE, a great selection of clothing and home decor, and a ton of Oklahoma-centric items like t-shirts, magnets, mugs, all of it!

Not only does the store have a variety of products, but they also feature a lot of local artists and vendors in their store, so you can support a local business in supporting other local businesses! The owner, Angelene, was also recently named Tulsa Chamber of Commerce’s “Small Business Person of the Year”. So basically she knows what she’s doing 🙂

Ida Red has 3 locations in Tulsa – in Brookside, the Arts District, and on South Yale.

Amber Marie & Co.

Winter Wonderland 🤝 Anthropologie (but local)! Right now, their store is decked to the brim with Christmas and holiday decor. During non-Christmas-prep months, they have a wide variety of beautiful home decor and amazing gifts.

This is my favorite store to go into and pretend I am boujee. They carry some really great brands like Thomas Blonde and Mackenzie Childs. They have everything from home decor to kid’s toys. They also offer interior decorating and holiday decorating services.

Amber Marie & Co has 3 locations in the Tulsa area. Utica Square, 91st & Yale, and Route 66 in Sapulpa.

Chain Stores

Again, I will encourage you to shop local first. But I definitely get that if your teenager says she wants Lululemon leggings for Christmas, that is exactly what she wants. And luckily, you have a ton of options in Tulsa!

Utica Square

Utica Square is by far one of my favorite spots to shop in Tulsa. This shopping center is an outdoor mall so be sure to bundle up. And grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks while you’re there. Order me a peppermint mocha please and thank you.

There is a wide variety of stores to choose from, so you could in theory make one stop at this shopping center and get all of your Christmas shopping done. Some of my fave stores (as a woman who loves clothes and home goods) are Amber Marie & Co (local!), Anthropologie, Coach, Madewell, and RH.

Here’s the whole list of stores and more information

Brookside

One of Tulsa’s cutest districts, Brookside is home to many chain retail shops like Free People, Lululemon, and Urban Outfitters. A handful of local boutiques like The Haley Boutique and one of the Ida Red locations are also in this district, so you can shop local and chain all at once! There are also plenty of local restaurants, bars, and cafes to fuel your shopping spree.

Cherry Street

Cherry Street is one of the more up-and-coming districts in Tulsa. New businesses are bringing Cherry Street back to a desirable location, and the restaurant scene is AMAZING. Back to shopping though.

  • You can stop in Pinkitzel (started in OKC!) for dessert, candy, and gifts for the sweet tooth in your life.
  • Rustic Cuff is a chain store (that started in Tulsa!!) offering mostly jewelry, but you can also find things like candles, clothes, and other giftable items.
  • Modern Cottage offers home decor, jewelry, clothes, and so much more.
  • Ascent is perfect for the outdoorsy person in your life.
  • And finally, The Nest has candles galore, and other giftable items for your loved ones.

I hope you found this list helpful to make the holiday season a little less-stressful. Happy shopping!
